The Director of the Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID), Col. Muhudin Ahmed Osman, today conducted an inspection of the Forensic Investigation Department.

This Forensic Department plays a crucial role in the justice system of the country, as without it, the national judiciary would struggle to properly administer justice. Recently, the Somali Police Force, CID, and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs have made significant progress in enhancing forensic investigations. It was agreed that forensic investigation samples, such as DNA and other substances requiring specialized lab analysis, will be sent to Turkey in the coming days. The results of these investigations are expected to be returned within a few days, ensuring efficient and high-quality investigative outcomes.
Additionally, a group of young officers, mainly university graduates, has been selected to work in this department. They will soon travel to Turkey for training in forensic investigations.
Finally, the CID Director issued directives regarding the operational procedures of the department to ensure that the goals and aspirations of the police force are met, and to ensure the achievement of a fair and just legal process in the country.
